born of humble circus folk in the san fernando valley of los angeles, michael (or, merely, flood on the wanted posters) began his life on stage at a terribly early age... five years old. That is when the nightmarish world of addiction began for this innocent little tyke from van nuys, ca.
ah, the roar of the greasepaint, the smell of the crowd... it took over his senses leaving him a heaving shell of a boy begging for roles on the street.
at the age of fourteen the habit took on a new form as he saw his first stage play produced as part of a themed night of short plays. a funny thing happened on the way to grey was a sporadically satirical look at old age. the residents of the retirement home, grey (clever, huh?), reminisced about their youth whilst singing lyrics penned by the wee teen and set to the tunes found in the music of grease. the standout, ‘1980s’ (set to the tune of ‘summer lovin’), was found on the lips of all who witnessed this evening’s amazing achievement in entertainment.
flood has had a number of plays produced since then (the total, while not necessarily astronomical, is, nonetheless, a number), ... grey remains the high point... at least, in his mind. he is in the process of getting productions for his work like vicarious playboys (award of meritorious achievement in playwriting from the kennedy center), entitled, sacred duties (all found on the writings page, as are others looking for performance homes). he is also looking for collaborators for his most recent screenplay, generation gap.
other than plays and screenplays, he is working furiously on autobiographical essays which will also be posted on the writings page upon completion. he is also pondering return to the stage (as an actor, comedian, and all around raconteur) after a hiatus brought about by education, work schedules and the fact that the family, for some unknown reason, wishes to spend time with him. sit tight, though, he’s fairly positive that they’ve grown weary of his company and the boards will be a welcome break for them.that’s about it for the sordid, somewhat boring, certainly paraphrased, professional life of flood. keep your eyes peeled as maybe, just maybe, something from this most bright star in the artistic firmament new will be posted here.
Vicarious Playboys
A woman appears at Robert Montgomery’s office one morning with a problem: She’s pregnant and he’s the father… or not, as she quickly learns. It appears that someone has appropriated his identity which prompts her to play detective in the hopes of finding her “baby daddy.” As she sets out to find the truth, she uncovers information that turns out to be more important–and far more destructive–than merely learning the identity of her mystery man. When the dust settles, the limits of friendship and love will be tested bringing about drastic change.

Sacred Duties
While rehearsing for a benefit performance of A Doll’s House, first couple of the local community theatre, Janice and Roger Springs, see their perfect life implode when a new cast member arrives with a secret agenda involving Janice and her business. The fact that this business is in direct opposition to not only her public persona, as well as her family's religious beliefs, shakes the very foundation of the couple's relationship. Now they must face issues of trust, faith, and personal, religious and community responsibility as well as her place in the life she and Roger have built.

… but with a whimper
Marvin lived a charmed life until the death of his wife, falling shortly after the loss of his career, sent his life spiraling out of control. Now, after five years living on the streets, he has had enough. His beliefs prohibit him from ending his own life, so he has decided on other means: He sleeps in a box compactor/bailer behind a convenience store in the hopes someone will push the button and end it for him. When he is discovered by Jack, the store's teenage clerk, Marvin works to manipulate the youth into ending his misery.

Entitled
Reunions are never easy. When one party has ulterior motives, it is all the more difficult, as Richard soon learns when a high school friend, MacLynn, who has been MIA for ten years, materializes. He is forced to face the past as it collides with the present when MacLynn lets known the reason for her visit and personal responsibility, obligation, deceit and long-sought compensation converge in an explosion of emotion and violence.
